Condo Things to do this Month

There are lots of condo tasks (and learning opportunities), this month, and most are at the beginning of the month! As the adage goes, March is coming in like a lion!

CMRAO Survey – March 6

The CMRAO is conducting a very short Satisfaction Survey. It takes less than 4 minutes to complete but you have to do this by March 6.

Feedback on amendments to the Condo Act – March 10

The province is seeking your input on various proposed changes to the Condo Act and regulation including on:

  • Pre-construction purchases
  • Interim occupancy fees
  • Condo Buyers’ Guide
  • Procurement
  • Chargebacks
  • Reserve Fund
  • Mediation and arbitration

We blogged about this here.  You can submit your feedback using this easy-to-use form found here.

Your comments are required by March 10.

Managers’ Perspective – Guest Blogging contest – March 15

You like reading the Condo Adviser? What about writing for it? For Condo Managers wishing to submit an entry to our first-ever Guest Blogging contest, you have until March 15 to do so.  More info on this contest here.

Survey on Condo Insurance – March 15

Are we facing a Condo Insurance Crisis? Have you been hit with a premium increase? What about an increase in your deductible? We blogged about this here. We are still gathering data on your condo insurance through our survey.  You should have your insurance certificate in hand when completing the survey. Aim to do complete the survey by March 15.

CAO return – March 31

The above were all “nice to do’s”.  This one is mandatory! You must complete and file your Annual Return with the Condo Authority of Ontario.  This can be done online. Upon filing your Annual Return, the CAO will issue your assessment invoice for the year. We continue to benefit from a temporary rebate this year. You can expect your assessment to come at $0.75 per month, per voting unit.

You can find more information about these required Returns and the link to actually file the return by visiting this CAO page.

This must be done by March 31.  Don’t miss this deadline as the CAO can charge a late filing fee of $200 for each overdue return.
